ProjectRoom
is a small exhibition space created in April 2008 to promote contemporary artists in a spirit of collaboration and risk.
ProjectRoom works with emerging and mid-career artists to gain critical recognition and broader national exposure while presenting
to our immediate community the efforts and ideas of challenging and original artists.
30
year-old sculptor Ying Zhu moved to the United States 10 years ago from
China. In that time she has earned a Bachelor's degree in Management
Information Systems from the University of Nebraska-Omaha and received an M.F.A. in May 2010 from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Repetitive, fragile and
laborious, Ying follows her meticulous process to create objects and
situations that reflect her examination of what it is to be bi-national
in the complex environment of American art and culture while giving the
viewer a unique look into her personal transformation and assimilation.
